Lively or not, magazine sales are dead

Finally--the answer to an important question.

Namely: Who sold magazines last year?

(Besides, yeah I know, no one)

And...who didn't?

Here's what I don't get: This issue of Allure was one of the highest selling of the past year--and to my eyes it's the least "Lively" (if you'll pardon the pun) of the trio of Blake Lively covers here.

Yet the others were two of the lowest-selling issues of the year.

On the other hand, it doesn't surprise me at all that this was the lowest selling issue of Vogue:

It's that rarest of things: A bad photo of Anne Hathaway. Even this (much higher-selling) issue of In Style has a better photo.

And traditionally, I think whoever is in charge of covers at InStyle needs to be severely beaten; to within an inch of their lives.

(Civility, schivilty, we're talking about Anne Hathaway here)

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has swiftly fallen to the bottom of the barrel, selling magazine-wise.

I'd say Lively's lack of sales kinda makes the below headline sorta ironic.

If it weren't for the fact that magazines don't really matter much, except as source material for thieving magpie blogs like this one. And that Lively didn't sell well esp. compared to Angelina JoliePhotobucket

Or especially Lady Gaga probably says more about the relative ages of Angelina or Gaga fans and Lively's younger admirers.

Or maybe it's just the economy.
