This blog is about images of women (in more than one sense), from the retro to the modern. Sometimes, they are naked; sometimes I will be laughing at, but more often with them. The blog believes in treating a woman like a lady and tries to remember that every girl is somebody's daughter.

Lively or not, magazine sales are dead
Finally--the answer to an important question.
Namely: Who sold magazines last year?
(Besides, yeah I know, no one)
And...who didn't?

Here's what I don't get: This issue of Allure was one of the highest selling of the past year--and to my eyes it's the least "Lively" (if you'll pardon the pun) of the trio of Blake Lively covers here.
Yet the others were two of the lowest-selling issues of the year.

On the other hand, it doesn't surprise me at all that this was the lowest selling issue of Vogue:

It's that rarest of things: A bad photo of Anne Hathaway. Even this (much higher-selling) issue of In Style has a better photo.

And traditionally, I think whoever is in charge of covers at InStyle needs to be severely beaten; to within an inch of their lives.
(Civility, schivilty, we're talking about Anne Hathaway here)
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift has swiftly fallen to the bottom of the barrel, selling magazine-wise.

I'd say Lively's lack of sales kinda makes the below headline sorta ironic.

If it weren't for the fact that magazines don't really matter much, except as source material for thieving magpie blogs like this one. And that Lively didn't sell well esp. compared to Angelina Jolie
Or especially Lady Gaga probably says more about the relative ages of Angelina or Gaga fans and Lively's younger admirers.
Or maybe it's just the economy.

People who shouldn't throw stones
Jennifer Aniston: 'The Rachel' 'Was The Ugliest Haircut I've Ever Seen'
This is what Aniston looks like in the new issue of Allure:
And below, to refresh, you'll find that hideous hairstyle. Which is uglier?
BTW, from the same interview:
"My stomach is not my hardest [challenge]-my derriere is much more my challenge."
Oh?
("Challenge: something that by its nature or character serves as a call to battle, contest")
...yeah. Mine, too.

Are they kidding me?
Apparently, some people (all Fox News watchers, I'm guessing) feel Olivia Munn's Maxim cover in allegedly--My, I'm using that word a lot today--transparent panties goes too far.

I can't see it, myself. Personally, I think it's a bad cover because her eyes look so dead. Munn may not be Susan Sarandon in the lively intelligence department, but dead-eyed she shouldn't be.
