This blog is about images of women (in more than one sense), from the retro to the modern. Sometimes, they are naked; sometimes I will be laughing at, but more often with them. The blog believes in treating a woman like a lady and tries to remember that every girl is somebody's daughter.

Bra Week: Day Six: Katy and Kidman Low-Cut
(OK, so technically, I don't think what Ms. Perry is wearing here is a bra. You want to split hairs, or you want to look at the curvy girl with the cleavage of life itself?
That's what I thought.)

I turn around with a pretend sigh and my hands ready to autograph, only to be asked to move so the person behind me can reach the tomato soup.
Paulina Porizkova blogs about being a "once-
attractive, now-aging wom[a]n with no other credits."
I disagree about the "once-attractive" part, I feel she still is, in many ways moreso.
Excerpt:

(It's too bad about her book--it was much better than I expected, and I said as much on its Amazon page.)

To compound the problem, the fact that I was once famous makes it really hard on my ego to go and get a normal job. I wasn't kidding when I mentioned working at Starbucks in a previous blog; I really would go and do part-time if it wasn't for my ego. (It's bad enough to have the postman hand me the mail and ask me to tell that "hot model" that lives in my building that he had a poster of her twenty-five years ago.) I have worked every day since the age of fifteen, supporting not only myself, but also helping a sizable family when needed. My career has an umbilical cord straight to my self-esteem. Too bad I have very little control over being desired or desirable. After I was the first to get kicked off "Dancing with the Stars" in 2007, and my book failed to sell all that much, and I couldn't get on "The View" no matter how much I begged, and I got fired from "America's Next Top Model," I spent the rest of the year feeling a bit sorry for myself while knitting and shouting comments at morning TV shows.

Even I'm surprised at how absolutely spot-on my Jennifer Love Hewitt theory is proving to be
That theory being, of course, that facing unemployment, she cranks up the fuck-me. To coin a phrase.
The latest evidence, her next part? She's playing a pole-dancing prostitute. Now, before we all get too excited, bear in mind this is apparently a prostitute role even a mother, specifically Hewitt's mama, can love:
"My mom's like, 'I'm so proud. You're pole dancing and you're going to play a prostitute. Awesome!'" Hewitt, 31, tells Entertainment Tonight. "
Even giving JLH the benefit of the doubt that this was wit (and I actually do think it was), the role in question is for a Lifetime TV-movie.
I think we can predict it'll only be young-mother-in-the-middle-of-the-day hot. Still, isn't it interesting this is what she rushes for when the Ghosts stop whispering?
Fluidity
"Why do you think we love this boat so much?... You know why?...Because it represents our primeval desire to control water. See? Now, think about it. All our beginnings are wet. Sloshing around in the womb. Baptism. The first life that came out of the warm soup of the ocean. You know?...It so happens that Venus rose from the sea on a clam shell. Sexuality was born in wetness."
"It's easier that way!"

-Prefab Sprout, "The Ice Maiden"
But death is a small price for heaven
All those nights I dreamt of you
I wonder where they've gone
Girl when I burn - Hell nothing's the same
I'll singe your pretty blonde lashes
We're talking fire - We're talking flame
We're talking ice into ashes

I wonder where they've gone
Girl when I burn - Hell nothing's the same
I'll singe your pretty blonde lashes
We're talking fire - We're talking flame
We're talking ice into ashes

Bra Week: Day One: Giving a lift to some Archie Gals...
I have decided on a "theme" for this week of posts, as this is the 100th anniversary of the bra.
My "sub" theme today is women who have portrayed Archie Comics characters "in the flesh (tee hee)."

Be sure to join us tomorrow for Bra Week: Day 2!

Re my comment about Halle Berry yesterday: I take it back.
On a completely unrelated matter, my Tara Reid thing? It's over.
Jennifer Love Hewitt's nipples in 5..4...
When CBS announced last week that it would not order another season of Ghost Whisperer, fans held out hope that the show’s spirit would hang around long enough for another network to give it a new life. ABC seemed like the mostly likely option (ABC studios co-owns the show with CBS), and execs at the network were reportedly weighing their options when it came to picking up the Jennifer Love Hewitt series.
But, sadly, it seems that that Ghost Whisperer really is dead: Entertainment Weekly reports that ABC has officially decided not to add the series to their fall schedule.
